Appointments

Routine Appointments

Please telephone 01935 872530 or call in to speak to one of our Receptionists to make your appointment. These can usually be booked up to one month ahead and you will be offered the first available appointment with the doctor of your choice or another doctor if this is not convenient. If you need a longer appointment than usual, please let the receptionist know so we can make provision for this. If you are unable to attend an appointment, please always let us know at the earliest opportunity so that we can offer the appointment to someone else.

This surgery is now offering one additional session per week - either a late evening or a Saturday morning. Please note that these are for pre-booked routine appointments and no other facilities, including telephone contact, will be available at these times. It is hoped that this will enable those patients who find it difficult to come to surgery during their working day to attend and we would therefore ask that if you are able to attend during our 'normal' surgery hours you continue to do so.

Urgent Appointments

If you feel you have a problem that needs medical attention and cannot wait for a routine appointment, you will be offered an appointment with a doctor on the same day.

Appointments Online

There is now the facility for patients to book appointments with a doctor via this web site. This is protected by the highest security and cannot be accessed by others providing you keep your registration details secure.

To be able to access this facility you will need to have an individual access and ID code. Please contact Reception who will be able to issue you with this.

Home Visits

The doctor will make these when there is a genuine inability to get to the surgery. Please telephone requests as early as possible in the day.

If the visit is not routine please state that it is urgent and it will be dealt with immediately.

Telephone Advice

If you wish to speak to a doctor or nurse on the telephone please call reception and they will log a call for you.

When The Surgery is Closed

If you are unwell during lunchtime, in the evening, overnight or at the weekend contact Urgent Care Services on 0845 600 10 13. This service is for urgent medical situations if you or a member of your family, becomes ill and you are concerned. It is not for routine enquiries, booking an appointment or ordering a repeat prescription.

When you ring the Urgent Care Services, your call will be answered by the call centre at St Leonard's Dorset. A trained member of staff will answer the telephone and take some details from you. They will pass these details straight to a doctor who will call you back to ask more about the problem. In conjunction with you they will decide the best option. Depending on the seriousness of the condition this may be:

  • Advice on the telephone
  • A visit to a local treatment centre
  • A home visit by a doctor, nurse or paramedic
